Calling All Artists: Participate in the July 4th Recorder Coloring Contest

In celebration of Independence Day, The Recorder is hosting a special coloring contest for children of all ages. Join us in spreading the patriotic spirit through this fun and creative activity.

Contest Details:

  • Theme: Patriotism and Independence Day
  • Age Groups: Two categories: 1-6 years old and 7-12 years old
  • Submission Deadline: June 30, 2023
  • Prizes: Gift certificates and a feature in The Recorder Newspaper

How to Participate:

  1. Download the Coloring Page: Visit The Recorder's website or participating community centers to obtain the official coloring page.
  2. Get Creative: Unleash your child's imagination by using crayons, markers, or paints to decorate the patriotic symbols and scenes on the page.
  3. Submit Your Entry: Mail your completed coloring page to:

The Recorder Newspaper Attn: Coloring Contest P.O. Box 798 South Hadley, MA 01075

Alternatively, you can submit a digital version of your child's artwork by emailing it to [email protected].

Judging and Awards:

A panel of judges from The Recorder will evaluate all entries based on creativity, artistic merit, and adherence to the contest theme.

Age Group 1: (1-6 years old)

  • 1st Place: $50 gift certificate and publication in The Recorder
  • 2nd Place: $25 gift certificate
  • 3rd Place: $10 gift certificate

Age Group 2: (7-12 years old)

  • 1st Place: $75 gift certificate and publication in The Recorder
  • 2nd Place: $50 gift certificate
  • 3rd Place: $25 gift certificate

All participants will receive a special mention in The Recorder Newspaper.

Rules and Guidelines:

  • Only one entry per child will be accepted.
  • Entries must be original and not copied from other sources.
  • The coloring page must be completed using crayons, markers, or paints.
  • Entries must be submitted by the deadline of June 30, 2023.
  • The decision of the judges is final.

Parent Consent:

By submitting an entry, parents consent to having their child's name and artwork published in The Recorder Newspaper and on its website.
